Jenny Aragon:

My family and I moved to the United States when I was 7 years old; we came with big dreams to succeed and each day we are grateful to be in the Land of Opportunities. As a young woman, I always saw my future in the business world. I attended Cal State Dominguez Hills to pursue a career in Business Administration. I became a mother my freshman year in college but continued to attend school while helping my father run one of his businesses during the week and working for Zales Jewelers on the weekends. I graduated in May of 2002 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management in the top 10% of my class. Upon completing my education I wanted a career that would allow me to help people and at the same time have the opportunity to reach my financial goals.

I started my career with Wells Fargo Financial. As a Credit Manager I realized that I could help people by educating them on loan products that would improve their financial situation. I enjoyed working for Wells Fargo for many reasons, one being their dedication to customer service. After leaving Wells Fargo Financial I had the opportunity to work in the mortgage industry.

On January 2006 I helped my husband open Funding Street Mortgage in the city of Downey. Establishing a new business has been one of the best learning experiences in my life. While building the foundation of the business I also continued to help people with their Real Estate Lending needs focusing mainly on the Spanish-speaking community.

By being involved with NLBWA-LA I was offered the prospect to further my career in business. I have recently joined Bank of America, the Bank of Opportunity. As a Business Client Manager I bring business solutions to companies of $2.5 million to $30 million in sales. It is exciting to be part of a company that strives to help all businesses succeed.

I have served on the Board of Directors for NLBWA Los Angeles Chapter since January 2006 where I have served as Secretary and Membership Chair prior to becoming President early in 2007. Not only has NLBWA-LA been a great place for personal growth but it has taken my career to new levels. It is an honor to be part of an organization whose mission is to empower the Latina Businesswoman.

Therese Cisneros-Remington

Therese was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended Whittier College and Cal State Fullerton where she majored in Human Development with a focus in Early Childhood Education plus has a Minor in Psychology. After college she became a Kindergarten teacher for 3 years and at the same time was the Assistant Director of the school. Then received a certificate in nutrition and for 2 years was a Nutrition Teacher. She then went back into education as a Family Service Specialist for the Head Start Program in Contra Costa County, California.

She then moved back to her home town of Los Angeles. There is when her marketing career took off by a fluke of opportunities. After completing a year contract for a state –wide campaign, she was given the opportunity to be self-employed as a Marketing Outreach Director for a state-wide non-profit church organization. When she was told of the salary and tax benefits, she went into business for the first time. She had NO IDEA that this knock of opportunity would be the turning point in her career and lead her to much happiness and success.

While working as a marketing director she began to: network more, learn the role of media and build her port folio of contacts. She stayed in business for 5 years and learned the hard knocks of being self-employed. (Where was NLBWA then?) She had the American dream and never knew how good it feels to own your own business. For the past 4 years she has been the Marketing Advisor for the Palomar College GEAR UP Partnership Program in North San Diego County.

The funny thing is that she made her job her career and combines the love of teaching with marketing.

Her first public position was the Transportation Commissioner of Walnut Creek , California . She has held Board of Directors positions with San Diego Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA), North County Latina’s Association. Appointed in July 2001 to the California Selective Service System by President George W. Bush. She currently sits on 2 Boards in San Diego: Director of Media Marketing and Public Relations to the Encuentros Leadership of North County, and President of the Board to the National Latina Business Women Association here in San Diego.

Therese is married to Philip Remington (a teacher), they are currently Foster Parents to 2 school aged girls. Therese teaches CCD on Tuesdays and volunteers for cats with Friends Of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) every Thursday afternoon.
